Introduction to the Pre-Call Solemn Assembly

On July 7th, 2007, hundreds of thousands are gathering at Titan Stadium in Nashville, TN to fast and pray for revival in the nation. This summons, pioneered by Lou Engle, is simply called The Call. It is not a festival, it is a ‘fast-ival’ – a time to cry out to the Lord for a spiritual awakening in the land, especially among the youth of America.

There are two primary issues we are praying about. The first, is that here in the 40th anniversary year of the 1967 ‘Summer of Love’ we might see God ignite a new generation of Jesus people who would stand up for righteousness in the land. The second, is that the Church in America would repent of having lost her first love for Christ, and be restored to her bridal passion for God.

Of course, most people cannot make the trek to Nashville. But they can be included. As a member of the local Call Steering Committee, I have developed a simple format and program designed to enable pastors and leaders across the country to conduct their own ‘solemn assembly’ with their congregations. In this way, many more people can track with what the Lord will be doing here at The Call Nashville.

What follows is much of what you need to coordinate such a local event. You may even want to do it in partnership with other churches and ministries. Begin by reading the Leader’s Guide, and it will direct you to everything else.

And keep in mind: these pre-Call assemblies in your own locale can also be post-Call assemblies. Some might conclude that it will be too challenging to organize this kind of rally before 07/07/07. But remember: 2007 doesn’t end on July 7th. In fact, in many respects what I have outlined here would be just as effective after The Call as before – maybe even more so, as the ripple affect from Titan stadium will radiate throughout the United States in the months to come.
